Wintergreen is Ever Green

Climb high and higher to reach the pinnacle of mountain resort living at Wintergreen Resort and Spa. On a foggy, misty rainy, or any day, you might be Stoney Creekon Cloud nine – literally, climbing into the clouds and above. Go in the fall for the foliage at Devil’s Knob and Stoney Creek Golf Courses at Wintergreen Resort. Go in the winter for skiing, tubing and zip lining down the snowy mountain. Go in the spring for blooming flowers. Go in the summer for wet tubing, zip lining and the lake activities. Go to the spa in every season; golf in every season. Good gracious just go to Wintergreen.

We recently had one of our best travel days ever there. Here’s how it went. We woke up to fresh air and blue skies outside a beautiful condo equipped with even a spice rack. We boxed our Wintergreen water moonchoices from the buffet breakfast with coffee to go, drove down the mountain through the woods, passing herds of deer. We played 27 holes of picturesque, well-designed golf and then ate brunch on the terrace overlooking the Stoney Creek course. We climbed back up the mountain to zip line, tube and spa –ahhhhhh. Then we sampled a winery, a brewery with games and chow, caught a sunset view at one of the many overlook passes and toasted with a night cap at The Edge which is really on the edge of the mountain, also the name of the ski tow – whew! Oh what a day and what a night on the blue ridge mountain range.Wintergreen overlook

There are two fabulous courses at Wintergreen Resort and Spa in Virginia. Stoney Creek Golf Course has three separate nines, all-divine and in the valley where it is a few degrees warmer, so in the winter it is a blast to ski on the mountain and golf below in the same day. Devil’s Knob is a different ball game. Tight lying fairways give way to majestic views. Behind the fourth green is the very best view on the mountain. Locals bring a bottle of wine and chairs to enjoy. Close to Walton’s Mountain, open 365 days a year, we rate Wintergreen Resort and Spa, an all around best resort. Say good night John Boy.
