Portland Oregon delivers postcard views and lots of fun to write home about. Situated along the Willamette River, a waterfront stroll leads to the Marine museum. Downtown at the Museum of Art, original Monets hang on the wall while the newest Luis Vuitton Master Design Collection includes Monet on purses at the mall. Portland is the place to pick up the $4k+ accessory since there is no sales tax charged. Shoppers unite and delight.
The city’s vibe is electric with a can do spirit. It is the city of makers. An entrepreneur spirit is reflected in original designers and inventors who chose this area to develop their creations. A symbiotic relationship among this community of free thinkers results in cooperative promotion of each other’s products.
The culinary scene is as eclectic as the cuisine. From Five Star restaurants to food truck parking lots, farm to market freshness is a Portland treat. Local micro brews and wines proliferate to serve every venue.
The whole city is very walkable from the central area of The Nines Hotel and you don’t have to dress to the nines to fit in. In fact most of Portland emanates an outdoor casual style. Having said that, The Nines is both elegant and comfortable with heaters by the doors outside where all might meet and go.
Transportation is a breeze in Portland. Catch the train from the airport and travel directly to most downtown businesses and points of interest. Grab an orange bike for a pedal tour; hail a quick cab, uber or walk, walk, walk. Statues stand out as art on the streets and buildings. Park blocks along the way keep the city natural with lawns and floral gardens. It is know as the City of Roses after all.
Branch out from the picturesque city of Portland to experience more of the great scenic outdoors, whether the Columbia River Gorge, waterfall hikes, 80 miles to the rugged coast, or exploring the bounty of the Tualatin Valley. From
Ponzi Vineyards’ Historic Estate Winery to Lady Hill Winery, Apolloni Vineyards and the biodynamic duo of Cooper Mountain and Montinore Estate, there are over 30 diverse wineries in the region to explore. All contributed to Willamette Valley being named the 2016 Wine Region of the year by Wine Enthusiasts. We have a mulligan trip enthusiastically planned to stay right in Tualatin, tour more wineries there and play Pumpkin Ridge, Meriwether Golf Club and Quail Valley. Undulation and libation will combine for more postcard photo ops.
