Stopped by The Isle of Skye Golf Club, the only golf course on Skye. Lovely seaside nine hole course with sea views from every hole. On the way back to Inverness, we had to check out Fortrose & Rosemarkie Golf Club, 15th oldest club in the world. The course is built on a peninsula with water framing the entire course. The front and back nines take turns running to and fro on windswept flat ground with gorse and tall native grass to capture errant shots. A road runs thru the middle of Club that leads to a lighthouse that anchors the point. After our fabulous trip on European Waterways barge cruise, we slid over to Isle of Skye for a look see. What an incredible island full of wanderlust hikers and campers. Dramatic mountains flow to the edge of the sea. Quaint seaside port of Portree. We drove up to the famous Man Of Stoor, a favorite hiking spot north of Portree. Next, we visited the Talisker Distillery. Followed by a side trip to the Fairy Pools. A cascading series of pools flowing down the mountain. The harrowing adventure is negotiating the single take roads. One lane road with turnouts that allow for whoever takes the initiative to get there first. Last night on the Caledonia Canal. Our final mooring was at Banavie, in the shadows of Great Britians' tallest mountain, Ben Nevis. Our last excursion was to the Dalwhinnie Distillery. Scottish Sea Scallops and fillet were our final fabulous meal. The food prepared by Chef Jim was outstanding all week long. The white and red wine pairings superb. It was hard to say goodbye to the great crew and new friends from Kentucky, David and Jenny Ewing. It was one of the best travel adventures we have experienced in 17 years of travel. We are leaving Fort Augustus and moving to Laggin Locks for the night. Countryside is so beautiful. Had baked sea trout for lunch. Yummy! Desert was always as good as it looked. After docking, drove a little over an hour to the famous Eilean Donan castle. You may recognize it from James Bond movie or The Outlaw King. The castle is not as big as original, but Vikings aren't invading anymore!! Ha ha, our dinner meal was confit duck. Scrumptious. We were surprised by a local duo who serenaded us with original songs and Caelic lyrics. Tomorrow is our last day on the water and so sad it had to come to the end.
